Authentic late-Victorian mourning bonnet in black silk, trimmed with lace and topped with an elegant ostrich feather plume. The cap is beautifully preserved, hand-stitched and lined, with its original long silk ribbons still attached (now shattered with age, as typical of period-dyed silk).
A remarkable survivor from the height of Victorian mourning fashion elegant, solemn, and strikingly theatrical.
